Patrick Dougherty is famous for his stickwork installations, combining his carpentry skills with his love of nature. For most of the month of May, Dougherty will be installing his newest piece at the Children's Museum of South Dakota. Once featured on CBS Sunday Morning, Dougherty's Stickwork has become internationally acclaimed, with many of his sculptures being seen worldwide, from Scotland to Japan to Brussels and now in Brookings, South Dakota!
Volunteers are needed to assist the Children’s Museum of South Dakota and artist Patrick Dougherty with the installation of an interactive sculpture made of saplings. Volunteers can help with the gathering of materials from nearby sites for use in the project, by stripping the leaves off of the saplings, or by assisting with the construction of the piece. The gathering and installation will occur May 1st-21st. All volunteers will be required to sign a waiver at check-in on the North side of the Children’s Museum of South Dakota.
