SUMMARY:The Wall That Heals 2026
DESCRIPTION:The City of Brookings\, S.D.\, is honored to welcome The Wall That Heals\, a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial\, along with its Mobile Education Center. It will be The Wall’s only visit to South Dakota in 2026. The exhibit will be open 24 hours a day beginning on June 11 and ending at 2:00 p.m. on June 14 at the Fishback Soccer Complex. The exhibit is free for the public to experience. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Wall That Heals Schedule of Events \n\nSeveral special events will occur\, starting Tuesday\, June 9\, with The Wall’s arrival. “Taps” will be performed at sunset June 11-13. Details can be found online. \nGuided Tours\nGuided tours will be offered for all ages Thursday\, Friday and Saturday. The tour times are: \n\n9:00 a.m. (Exception: The 9 a.m. tour will not be offered Thursday due to the Welcome Home Ceremony that will happen at that time.)\n11:00  a.m.\n12:30 p.m.\n2:00 p.m.\n6:00 p.m.\n\nSchedule of Events \nTuesday\, June 9: \n\n1:00 PM – The public is encouraged to help welcome The Wall That Heals motorcade escort to Brookings. The Rolling Thunder and others will help escort the motorcade as it winds its way through Brookings to Fishback Soccer Complex. A map of the route\, along with watch areas\, can be found online.\n\nWednesday\, June 10: \n\nAssembly of The Wall will start at 8:30 a.m. at Fishback Soccer Complex. Volunteers are welcome to help.\n\nThursday\, June 11: \n\n9:00 AM – A patriotic Welcome Home Ceremony will mark the official opening of The Wall.\n\nFriday\, June 12:  \n\nEvening – A “Light the Night in Teal for PTSD Awareness Month” ceremony will take place. In the evening leading up to sunset\, The Wall will be lit in teal\, the official color for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).\n\nSaturday\, June 13: \n\nNo special events.\n\nSunday\, June 14:  \n\n1:30 PM – Closing ceremony to thank volunteers\n1:58 PM – final performance of “Taps”\n2:00 PM – Disassembly begins. Volunteers are welcome to help.

Join us on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the 300 block of 6th Ave\, the street between the Brookings Library and County Courthouse. We are just southeast of the Children’s Museum of South Dakota.  \nProducts available at the market vary on the season. Area producers sell a variety of fruits\, vegetables\, herbs\, meats\, jams\, honey\, bread\, coffee\, soap\, eggs\, teas\, mixes\, and more. Each week offers something new and delicious.
