Join us for our FREE Firearm Basics class! \nThis is an introductory course on firearms and their use.  \nIn this class\, you will learn: \n-Different types of firearms and their use. \n-Different ammunition and which firearms they go with. \n-How to be a responsible firearm owner. \n-How to safely operate and store a firearm. \n-How to safely shoot a .22 rifle (optional). \nAges 12 and up are welcome. All participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. \nAll participants must fill out our Release of Liability Waiver. (participants under 18 must have one completed by an adult) \nNO OUTSIDE FIREARMS OR AMMUNITION ALLOWED. All participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. \nAll participants must fill out our Release of Liability Waiver. (participants under 18 must have one completed by an adult) \nNO OUTSIDE FIREARMS OR AMMUNITION ALLOWED. DESCRIPTION:The Brookings Area Community Band\, one of the region’s most time-honored summer traditions\, has announced its 42nd season.\nThe band is in its twentieth year under the baton of David Reynolds\, Director of Performing Arts at SDSU. Reynolds states\, “We hope that music lovers of all ages will come and enjoy the entire series. Bring a lawn chair or a picnic blanket and find out what summer in Brookings is all about.” Complimentary treats are served at each concert.\nAlthough each concert’s music is based on programmatic themes\, every concert this season will include music that celebrates USA-250.\nJune 14 “Around the World in 60 Minutes” The band’s season opener features music from three continents.\nJune 21 “Kids in Orbit” It’s Children’s Night! Enjoy music that captures the wonder and imagination of the outer space\, served up with plenty of cotton candy.\nJune 28 “Broadway Comes to Brookings” There’s no need to travel to New York when the band brings music from your favorite musicals to you!\nJuly 5 “Happy Birthday\, USA!” This patriotic concert includes a generous portion of flag-waving marches\, a salute to veterans\, and complimentary watermelon.\nJuly 19 “By Request” There is something for everyone during the band’s season finale\, including our famous burger-and-brat feed.\nThe band will also perform in the Brookings 4th of July Parade and back in the park on Sunday morning of the Brookings Summer Arts Festival following the ecumenical service. The Sunday morning performance replaces the Sunday evening concert that weekend.\nAll concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. In case of rain\, concerts are moved indoors to the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center and begin at 7:45 p.m. For more information on how to volunteer\, join or support the band or about the series\, please call Kathy Larsen at 605-695-0397.
