DESCRIPTION:The Hobo Day Committee is putting on BumOver for the SDSU students. \nBring your friends and join your fellow Bums in the VBR to build Hoboville out of\nshanties and Hobo spirit! Groups will work together to build their own shanties that they can “bum around in” for an hour or so. Cardboard and duct tape will be provided\, but groups are encouraged to bring their own supplies to make their shanties unique. Shanty judging will take place and the winning teams will be awarded with true hobo-like prizes! Arm wrestling will also make the annual appearance. The Judges will pick three shanty winners: tallest\, most school-spirited\, and overall best. \nThis will take place October 20th at 7PM in the VBR at the student union. Make sure to check out the structures in the union!

Be a part of a beloved Hobo tradition while also enjoying a free meal with your friends in the home of a Brookings community member! \nBum-A-Meal gives students the opportunity to connect with community members\, faculty\, and alumni. Many of them have their own Hobo Day memories they’re excited to share with the next generation of hobos looking for a hot meal. (Did we mention it’s free?)! \nThe forms were due October 13th and the event will be going on Monday October 18th starting at 5PM. The students will be going out to host homes at 6PM.

SUMMARY:South Dakota String Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Beginning in 1978\, the Dakota String Quartet presented concerts and workshops throughout a five-state region\, making strings “a natural resource” for our state. The diverse backgrounds of the Dakota String Quartet (Doosook Kim\, Magdalena Modzelewska\, Yi-Chun Lin\, and Robert Erhard) magically meld and create a superior ensemble. The majority of the ensemble’s time is spent on tour\, performing at concert halls\, colleges\, community centers and public schools. Through their individual roles as string principals in the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra\, they bring music enrichment and leadership to people of all ages.
