DESCRIPTION:Are you a South Dakota high school student interested in learning more about engineering and transportation? Would you like to learn on the beautiful South Dakota State University campus through interactive\, fun\, and hands-on activities? Do you want to explore opportunities in the transportation sector and consider it as a career? Then\, the South Dakota State University’s National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI) may be right for you! \n  \nAll selected students will receive scholarships to attend the NSTI! The scholarship will cover the cost of on-campus housing\, food\, and workshops\, so the camp is free! During this one-week long summer camp\, you will be introduced to different aspects of transportation engineering\, such as planning\, materials\, and transportation modes\, among other topics. DESCRIPTION:Prairie Repertory Theatre’s last show! Footloose is the story of Ren McCormack\, a teenage boy from Chicago. He and his mother move to the small town of Bomont after his father abandons them. Upon arriving\, Ren finds himself at odds with most of the town\, including the Reverend Bomont. The Reverend has convinced the town to outlaw dancing\, which Ren finds unbelievable. With the help of the Ariel (the Reverend’s daughter) and Willard (a country hick who becomes his best friend)\, Ren convinces the Reverend to let the teenagers dance\, and in the process helps the town to heal from a tragedy that affected them all

DESCRIPTION:This race offers a fast\, shaded\, USATF certified course that starts and finishes near downtown at the Brookings County Courthouse\, snakes through downtown and residential Brookings\, including passes near Pioneer Park\, the children’s museum\, and through Hillcrest Park. The course is well marked with very light traffic. \nEntry fee includes a t-shirt\, entry for door prizes\, age group medals to the top three! Run for Beef & Eggs offers over $1\,200 in cash prizes for the top three males and females in hopes of bringing the best competition from around the area.\n​\nThe race also encourages novice runners and walkers to come out and enjoy the morning while getting fit! \n​​      Beef and Eggs 5k also doubles as the USATF Dakota’s Association 5k Road Race Championships. If you are a USATF Dakota’s member\, make sure to register as such to enter yourself into the Dakota’s Championship\, where you will be eligible for an additional award (top 3 open and top 3 masters men and women). USA Track & Field Dakotas is the local governing body for long distance running\, track & field\, cross country and race walking in North and South Dakota and provides youth in particular great opportunities to enter the sport. SUMMARY:Brookings Summer Arts Festival
DESCRIPTION:Beautiful Pioneer Park in Brookings\, South Dakota is home to South Dakota’s premier juried art festival. Over 200 artists from across the nation\, representing 15 disciplines of art\, grace Pioneer Park with original skilled and handcrafted works of art. Thirty eight gourmet and ethnic food booths satisfy every appetite. The Edibles and Naturals area has 28 artisans who produce gourmet packaged cottage foods and natural skin products. Historic and antique booths celebrate South Dakota’s heritage. A lively children’s area in the center of the park provides fun\, educational activities. In addition to the great works of art\, the festival has become known for the entertainers performing in the historic park Bandshell and on side stages throughout the park. \nPlanning for the annual Brookings Summer Arts Festival is already well underway. The BSAF volunteer committee members work tirelessly to produce this extravaganza of art\, food and entertainment for the whole family.

Due to popular demand\, starting July 10th you will need to pre-order your Pizza on Facebook. \nOn the night of\, we welcome you to enjoy the evening on the farm with your family and friends. Our food is served picnic-style and we have plenty of space to spread out and make the evening special\, safely. We encourage you to bring your own yard games\, lawn chairs\, blankets\, and plates to enjoy our farm\, food and animals. Friendly\, non-barking dogs on leashes are welcome. \nQ & A- \n\n\nWhat can I expect? Specialty\, hand-crafted\, wood-fired pizzas and a beautiful evening on the farm with space to enjoy your friends and family. You can spend the entire evening on the farm and when your pizzas are ready\, we will display your order number by the Pizza Ovens. \n\n\nDo I need to bring drinks? No\, we’ve got you covered! We sell select beers\, wine\, and signature lemonades. Bring your own water or we will have some bottled you can purchase. \n\n\nWhat should we bring? Our pizza is served picnic-style and delivered to you hot from our wood-fired oven in a pizza box. Please bring your own utensils\, napkins\, lawn chair\, and yard games\, if you like. \n\n\nPlease watch your children; we are unable to do so. Even though it is tempting to go barefoot\, a barnyard has many things that could cause a painful step\, so best to keep shoes on.
