DESCRIPTION:We’ll follow an easy 2.2 mile route\, starting and ending at Madison Avenue Dance Studio (2021 Tall Grass Parkway in Prairie Hills\, Brookings). This is a family-friendly event open to all ages: walkers\, runners\, strollers\, pets\, bikes…all are welcome! Registration fee is $20 per participate ages 6+ and includes an event t-shirt. Participants ages 5 and under are welcome to register for no cost (t-shirt not included). \nSince its a TUTU RUN supporting Breast Cancer Research\, we encourage all participants to sport a tutu and pink clothing during the run. Prizes will be awarded to the ‘best dressed’. \nThis truly is a ‘fun run for a good cause’…no official timing will take place.

DESCRIPTION:Born with fibular hemimelia\, Robert Anthony Rodriguez underwent amputation of his right leg below-the-knee at just 10 months old. Additional personal tragedies did not deter Robert as he grew up as a gifted athlete and positive role model. He plays for the U.S. Amputee Soccer team\, is a sled hockey player and is now a Paratriathlete! \nRobert had been playing soccer for about a year before joining the U.S. Amputee Soccer Team in 2017. Robert was born with fibula hemimelia. In addition to soccer\, Robert plays competitive sled hockey\, sit-down volleyball\, stand-up amputee basketball and adaptive CrossFit. Favorite thing about soccer:   “The level of skill\, the challenge and the love that the world has for one sport. It brings so many countries and communities together.” \nJoin us at the Children’s Museum of SD for coffee\, cookies and lemonade as Robert shares his story and talks about how to overcome obstacles\, keeping a positive mental attitude\, ways to stay focused on your goals\, how to keep your confidence\, and how to become our best selves! In observance of National Disability Employment Awareness Month\, there is no fee for this event but your RSVP is kindly appreciated. Featuring Brent’s original compositions and the incendiary\, genre-hopping virtuosity of all three members\, the trio at the core of 9 Horses represents Brent’s dual vision of a musical future with no barrier between the old notions of ’folk art’ and ’fine art’\, and an ensemble capable of communicating this idea through musical canvases both great and small.

DESCRIPTION:The SDSU School of Performing Arts is pleased to bring Ben Model back by popular demand. Generously supported by Doug and Sandy Oleson\, this double-feature is offered to raise awareness of the pipe organ in Founders Recital Hall within the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center. \nThe evening will include Floorwalker\, starring Charlie Chaplin\, and The Freshman\, starring Harold Lloyd. Released in 1916\, Floorwalker\, features Chaplin as a department store customer who creates disorder and inadvertently becomes entwined in a scheme lead by the department store manager. Released in 1925\, The Freshman\, was one of the first fifty films to be selected for preservation by the US National Film Registry due to its cultural\, historical\, and aesthetic significance. The film is one of the most complete chronicles of early 20th century college life and athletic competition. The plot includes a heartwarming and humorous look at the Tate College football team’s water boy\, who ultimately scores the winning touchdown. \nCentral to the performances will be silent film historian and organist\, Ben Model. Model is one of the nation’s leading silent film accompanists\, performing on both piano and theatre organ.
