The biennial exhibitions are important landmarks in South Dakota art history. The exhibition shares some of South Dakota’s best artworks with visiting audiences at multiple exhibiting institutions across the state through the course of the one-year traveling show. The catalog is an important historical record of the state’s current artists and art practices for future generations. \nThe 10th Biennial begins at the South Dakota Art Museum (Feb 11—May 14\, 2023) before traveling to the John A. Day Gallery at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion (Jun 19—Aug 4\, 2023)\, the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls (Aug 25—Nov 12\, 2023)\, and the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City (Dec 8\, 2023—Mar 30\, 2024).

DESCRIPTION:Join us at the BAC with ceramicist Rachel Funk to learn how to use a pottery wheel! \n\n\nOnly 4 spots open for each class \n\n\nThis class is 2 sessions\, each 2 hours long \n\n\nAll supplies included in the cost of the class \n\n\nNo experience necessary \n\n\nMaterials used will generally wash out of clothing\, but wear things you’re okay with getting a bit muddy! \n\n\nShort fingernails are helpful for this class. \n\n\nDates\nJanuary 25th (making) and February 13th (glazing) \nTime\n6-8pm\, both dates \nUpdated Missed Class Policy \nThe Brookings Arts Council enjoys providing high quality classes and experiences for adults\, teens\, and children. Each class requires a minimum number of students enrolled to ensure adequate accommodations\, materials\, and payment for the instructor. \n\nAs we make decisions regarding classes based on a variety of factors\, including the number of students enrolled\, we are generally unable to offer make-up classes\, credits\, or refunds for classes missed if notice is not given within 48 hours of the scheduled class start time. If you are unable to make it to a class and notify us more than 48 hours in advance\, a refund will be sent to you. Credits for classes will not be held. \n\nIn the event of an instructor or BAC issued cancellation at any point after registration\, a refund will be processed or the class will be rescheduled if possible.

SUMMARY:AHA Basic Life Support Course
DESCRIPTION:Covers adult\, infant and child CPR as well as ventilation using a barrier device\, AED\, and choking relief for adults and infants. \nThe American Heart Association BLS Course is recommended for health care providers and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support. The class uses realistic scenarios and simulations to cover adult\, infant and child CPR as well as ventilation using a barrier device\, Automated External Defibrillation and choking relief for adults and infants. \nThe class uses QCPR training manikins which give the American Heart Association Certified BLS instructor real-time information about how a student performs chest compressions and airway ventilation. This feedback allows instructors to relay quality information to students and offer suggestions on how to improve their technique. This reassures students they can perform high-quality CPR that will save lives. \nCOST: $50 \nREGISTRATION: Closes 1 day prior to class. \nHEALTH PRECAUTIONS \n• One student will sit per table \n• All surfaces and mannequins are disinfected prior to each class \n• Hand sanitizer/soap & water is available \nPARKING: Please park across the street in the Home Health & Hospice/Yorkshire Eye Clinic lot to ensure the ambulance can exit quickly in an emergency. \n* The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in CPR and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Course materials are not necessary nor provided\, but can be purchased on-line at Amazon\, etc. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association. Any fees charged for such a course\, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials\, do not represent income to the Association.
