The South Dakota State University rodeo team will kick up the dust at the 67th annual Jackrabbit Stampede Rodeo at the Swiftel Center in Brookings\, SD with back-to-back-to-back performances Friday\, March 31 through Saturday\, April 1. Tickets on sale Friday\, February 3 at the Swiftel Center’s Active Heating Box Office and online at www.Ticketmaster.com. \nAttendees will watch intense rodeo action with the initial competition beginning at 7:30p.m. Friday\, March 31\, and continuing Saturday\, April 1\, at 1:00p.m. and 7:30p.m. This two-day event is a National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association-approved rodeo featuring events such as: Bareback Riding\, Barrel Racing\, Breakaway Roping\, Bull Riding\, Goat Tying\, Saddle Bronc Riding\, Steer Wrestling\, Team Roping\, and Tie Down Roping. \nMezzanine general admission tickets are only available at the Active Heating Box Office. Mezzanine general admission tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for children ages 3 to 12; kids 2 and under are free! South Dakota State University students can receive a $20 mezzanine general admission ticket with student i.d. while supplies last. \nAll 200-level tickets are sold as reserved seating with 2 ticket levels: $31 for the first five rows and $28 for the sixth row and above. 200-level reserved children tickets are only available at the Active Heating Box Office for $20 for children ages 3 to 12. For every ticket purchased\, $3 goes directly back to the SDSU Jackrabbit Stampede Rodeo team. \nSit in the best seat in the house! A VIP ticket is $50 and includes a reserved seat next to the ring\, getting you up close to the action. SUMMARY:100th Annual Little International
DESCRIPTION:Little International is a two-day agricultural exposition planned\, organized and implemented by students at South Dakota State University for the benefit of high school and college students. Little International is considered the largest two-day agricultural exposition in the country. The exposition provides students with an opportunity to compete in judging contests\, showmanship competitions and fitting challenges. \nHistory of Little “I”\nLittle International has been presented every year since 1921 with only three exceptions. In 1926\, it was canceled due to the Scarlet Fever epidemic\, and 1944–1945 it was canceled because of World War II. The first Little I was patterned after the Chicago International Livestock Exposition and was held on campus in what is now the South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum. In 1952\, Little International was moved to what is now called the The Barn. In 1977\, it was moved to where it is held today\, the Animal Science Arena. During the week prior to Little International\, the student staff prepares the Arena for the exposition. This includes erecting the famous red barn and white fence\, adding bleachers and dying the wood chips green for the show ring. Also\, each member of the staff is responsible for ensuring that the specific task of the committee they sit on is accomplished\, whether that task is livestock judging or the event schedule. \nPurpose\nLittle International serves both high school and college students alike. The exposition provides a fun and competitive opportunity for students to develop and refine skills essential for lifelong success in agriculture. Through Little International\, students can utilize the two day event\, not just as an opportunity to improve their showmanship\, fitting or judging skills\, but also to develop time management skills\, responsibility\, hard work and personal pride—not to mention the networking possibilities and the fun had by all involved with Little International.
