The move from campus is due to the construction in Frost Arena as that facility continues its transformation into First Bank & Trust Arena during the next 18 months. \nGraduates\, associate through doctoral degrees\, will walk with their respective colleges at the following times: \n\n10 a.m. – College of Agriculture\, Food and Environmental Sciences and the Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering;\n2 p.m. – College of Education and Human Sciences and the College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions; and\n6 p.m. – College of Nursing\, College of Natural Sciences and the College of Arts\, Humanities and Social Sciences.\n\nEach ceremony will be ticketed based on capacity\, and graduates will receive up to six tickets apiece for their guests. \nThe Swiftel Center is located at 824 32nd Ave. in Brookings.

DESCRIPTION:Visit Brookings invites the community to shine red in support for the hundreds of our friends\, families and neighbors whose livelihoods depend on tourism during National Travel & Tourism Week May 7-13\, 2023. Red is the official color of NTTW. \nJoin the Visit Brookings office\, the Children’s Museum of South Dakota and other attractions in shining the light on tourism. \nTourism is economic development\, creating jobs\, generating sales and providing tax dollars for the residents of our community and state. Each household in South Dakota would need to pay $1011 more in state and local taxes to replace the tax revenue generated by visitor activity. In 2022\, Brookings County saw an all-time high of $115 million in visitor spending. This is an increase of 23.1% over last year. And that visitor spending generated $8.6 million in state and local tax revenue. Last year\, 1347 people were directly employed in tourism-related jobs in Brookings County. \nCheck the Visit Brookings website www.visitbrookingssd.com to find other ways the entire community can get involved in this important week.

SUMMARY:Brookings Community Theatre Auditions for "9 to 5: The Musical"
DESCRIPTION:9 to 5 is based on the 1980 movie of the same name\, and features music and lyrics by Dolly Parton. It centers on the downtrodden working lives of three women\, Violet\, Judy\, and Doralee. They all work at Consolidated Industries\, which is presided over by the sexist\, lecherous\, and pompous\, Franklin Hart. Violet has worked at Consolidated for many years\, but has never been given the chance to rise above senior supervisor status\, although she is capable of much more. Judy is newly separated and joins the company having never worked before. Doralee is a sexy\, happily married country girl\, but she is ostracized from the other female workers. After Judy has an awful first day\, Hart passes Violet over for another promotion\, and Doralee finds out that Hart has been telling everyone they are having an affair\, the three women unite in their hatred of Hart. Over a joint\, they fantasize about how they would kill him. When Violet almost unwittingly poisons Hart the next day\, he blackmails the three women\, threatening them with the police. Doralee ties Hart up with the phone wires and\, feeling empowered\, they decide to imprison him in his own house while his wife is away. In Hart’s absence\, Violet\, Judy\, and Doralee run the office to great effect. They introduce childcare\, hour-long lunch breaks\, rehab programs\, and much more to benefit the staff at Consolidated. While Hart is tied up\, the women also use the time to gather evidence that Hart has been embezzling from the company\, but Hart breaks free and surprises the women at the office. However\, his attempts to reveal the truth about his kidnapping are foiled when the Chairman of the Board arrives to praise the company’s increased productivity. The Chairman sends Hart to head up the Bolivia office and promotes Violet to the first female CEO. SUMMARY:Brookings Community Theatre Auditions for "9 to 5: The Musical"
DESCRIPTION:9 to 5 is based on the 1980 movie of the same name\, and features music and lyrics by Dolly Parton. It centers on the downtrodden working lives of three women\, Violet\, Judy\, and Doralee. They all work at Consolidated Industries\, which is presided over by the sexist\, lecherous\, and pompous\, Franklin Hart. Violet has worked at Consolidated for many years\, but has never been given the chance to rise above senior supervisor status\, although she is capable of much more. Judy is newly separated and joins the company having never worked before. Doralee is a sexy\, happily married country girl\, but she is ostracized from the other female workers. After Judy has an awful first day\, Hart passes Violet over for another promotion\, and Doralee finds out that Hart has been telling everyone they are having an affair\, the three women unite in their hatred of Hart. Over a joint\, they fantasize about how they would kill him. When Violet almost unwittingly poisons Hart the next day\, he blackmails the three women\, threatening them with the police. Doralee ties Hart up with the phone wires and\, feeling empowered\, they decide to imprison him in his own house while his wife is away. In Hart’s absence\, Violet\, Judy\, and Doralee run the office to great effect. They introduce childcare\, hour-long lunch breaks\, rehab programs\, and much more to benefit the staff at Consolidated. While Hart is tied up\, the women also use the time to gather evidence that Hart has been embezzling from the company\, but Hart breaks free and surprises the women at the office. However\, his attempts to reveal the truth about his kidnapping are foiled when the Chairman of the Board arrives to praise the company’s increased productivity. The Chairman sends Hart to head up the Bolivia office and promotes Violet to the first female CEO.
