SUMMARY:Brookings Community Theatre Auditions for "9 to 5: The Musical"
DESCRIPTION:9 to 5 is based on the 1980 movie of the same name\, and features music and lyrics by Dolly Parton. It centers on the downtrodden working lives of three women\, Violet\, Judy\, and Doralee. They all work at Consolidated Industries\, which is presided over by the sexist\, lecherous\, and pompous\, Franklin Hart. Violet has worked at Consolidated for many years\, but has never been given the chance to rise above senior supervisor status\, although she is capable of much more. Judy is newly separated and joins the company having never worked before. Doralee is a sexy\, happily married country girl\, but she is ostracized from the other female workers. After Judy has an awful first day\, Hart passes Violet over for another promotion\, and Doralee finds out that Hart has been telling everyone they are having an affair\, the three women unite in their hatred of Hart. Over a joint\, they fantasize about how they would kill him. When Violet almost unwittingly poisons Hart the next day\, he blackmails the three women\, threatening them with the police. Doralee ties Hart up with the phone wires and\, feeling empowered\, they decide to imprison him in his own house while his wife is away. In Hart’s absence\, Violet\, Judy\, and Doralee run the office to great effect. They introduce childcare\, hour-long lunch breaks\, rehab programs\, and much more to benefit the staff at Consolidated. While Hart is tied up\, the women also use the time to gather evidence that Hart has been embezzling from the company\, but Hart breaks free and surprises the women at the office. However\, his attempts to reveal the truth about his kidnapping are foiled when the Chairman of the Board arrives to praise the company’s increased productivity. The Chairman sends Hart to head up the Bolivia office and promotes Violet to the first female CEO. The Scotty Roberts 5K is back with a new course that starts and finishes at Pioneer Park!\n​\n​Online registration for the 5K opens on March 1st. \n​Parking and Packet Pickup\nOn Friday\, the road through Pioneer Park will be open.  Runners are asked drive slowly and park in the west end of the park. 5K packet pickup and check in will take place in a small tent near the northeast entrance to Pioneer Park. \n \nHistory\nNamed for a running icon in the Brookings community\, the Scotty Roberts 5K takes place the evening before the marathon. Dr. Roberts ran before running was even considered good for you\, and his efforts helped pave the way for Brookings running over many years. This event provides a great chance to participate in a friendly race and still volunteer or cheer for your favorite runner on Saturday. Getting involved in marathon weekend couldn’t be easier.

DESCRIPTION:Joint Camp is a free\, 60-minute educational session for individuals who are having\, or are thinking about\, knee or hip joint replacements. \nJoint Camp is presented by team members who regularly assist patients on their joint journey\, including nurses and therapists. Topics covered include an explanation of joint pain\, physical and occupational therapy preparation\, how to prepare the home for safety\, what to bring with to the hospital and what to expect the day of surgery. In addition\, patients will learn about available services to help them plan for recovery and going home\, including swing bed\, short-term rehabilitation\, home health and outpatient therapy. \nPatients are also encouraged to bring along a support person to Joint Camp. The support person will work with the patient to learn therapeutic exercises and expectations for post-surgical care.

SUMMARY:AHA Basic Life Support Course
DESCRIPTION:Covers adult\, infant and child CPR as well as ventilation using a barrier device\, AED\, and choking relief for adults and infants. \nThe American Heart Association BLS Course is recommended for health care providers and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support. The class uses realistic scenarios and simulations to cover adult\, infant and child CPR as well as ventilation using a barrier device\, Automated External Defibrillation and choking relief for adults and infants. \nThe class uses QCPR training manikins which give the American Heart Association Certified BLS instructor real-time information about how a student performs chest compressions and airway ventilation. This feedback allows instructors to relay quality information to students and offer suggestions on how to improve their technique. This reassures students they can perform high-quality CPR that will save lives. \nCOST: $50 \nREGISTRATION: Closes 1 day prior to class. \nHEALTH PRECAUTIONS \n• One student will sit per table \n• All surfaces and mannequins are disinfected prior to each class \n• Hand sanitizer/soap & water is available \nPARKING: Please park across the street in the Home Health & Hospice/Yorkshire Eye Clinic lot to ensure the ambulance can exit quickly in an emergency. \n* The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in CPR and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Course materials are not necessary nor provided\, but can be purchased on-line at Amazon\, etc. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association. Any fees charged for such a course\, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials\, do not represent income to the Association.
