SUMMARY:Jack 15 Road Race
DESCRIPTION:Be part of the history of Jack 15. \nFor 60 years\, runners have been making an annual trek from White\, S.D.\, to Brookings\, S.D.\, making it the oldest road race in the Midwest. The 61st running of the 15.2-mile course from Hooker and Main in White to the Campanile in Brookings via county roads is Sept. 23. \nPrize money is offered for the top three male and female placers — $200 for first\, $100 for second and $50 for third. All entries will receive a long-sleeve\, moisture-wicking T-shirt and all finishers of the 15.2-mile run will receive a medal. \nSo start training for Prairie Striders’ version of an ultra-half marathon or grab some friends and form a relay team.\n​\nNOTES: \n\nCustom medals to runners who complete the full distance.\nEarly start is offered for walkers and SLOW runners only. Those wanting an early start must contact the race director a week in advance of the race.\n\nThe Jack 15 offers the following individual and team competitions: \n\nIndividual competitors may run the entire 15.2 miles.\n5-member relay team running 3 miles each\n3-member relay team running 5 miles each.\n2-member relay team running 7.5 miles each.\nRelay teams may consist of all men\, all women\, or be co-ed.\n\nNeed another runner for your relay team? DESCRIPTION:La Bohème\, an Opera in four acts by Italian composer Giacomo Puccini (Italian librettoby Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa) that premiered at the Teatro Regio in Turin\, Italy\, on February 1\, 1896. The story\, a sweetly tragic romance\, was based on the episodic novel Scènes de la vie de bohème (1847–49; “Scenes of Bohemian Life”) by French writer Henri Murger. A success from the beginning\, it is one of the most frequently performed of all operas. \nSung in Italian with super titles in English. \nPuccini’s classic tale is about four struggling bohemians – a poet\, a painter\, a musician\, and a philosopher who are living together in Paris\, when one freezing Christmas Eve\, their lives are changed forever. Teatro Lirico D’Europa presents this masterpiece with chorus\, orchestra\, soloists\, sets and costumes. The evening will include a special feature with top students from the South Dakota State University School of Performing Arts. It will be truly grand!

DESCRIPTION:Covers adult\, infant and child CPR as well as ventilation using a barrier device\, AED\, and choking relief for adults and infants. \nThe American Heart Association BLS Course is recommended for health care providers and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support. The class uses realistic scenarios and simulations to cover adult\, infant and child CPR as well as ventilation using a barrier device\, Automated External Defibrillation and choking relief for adults and infants. \nThe class uses QCPR training manikins which give the American Heart Association Certified BLS instructor real-time information about how a student performs chest compressions and airway ventilation. This feedback allows instructors to relay quality information to students and offer suggestions on how to improve their technique. This reassures students they can perform high-quality CPR that will save lives. \nCOST: $50 \nREGISTRATION: Closes 1 day prior to class. \nHEALTH PRECAUTIONS \n• One student will sit per table \n• All surfaces and mannequins are disinfected prior to each class \n• Hand sanitizer/soap & water is available \nPARKING: Please park across the street in the Home Health & Hospice/Yorkshire Eye Clinic lot to ensure the ambulance can exit quickly in an emergency. \n* The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in CPR and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Course materials are not necessary nor provided\, but can be purchased on-line at Amazon\, etc. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association.
