The gatherings are a program of the South Dakota State Poetry Society (SDSPS)\, with the support of the South Dakota Humanities Council and many local sponsors.\nFree and open to the public\, each event features poetry readings from the South Dakota Poet Laureate\, Bruce Roseland\, and other SDSPS member poets. There is also an open mic following the reading\, where attendees can sign up to read their own original poems if they wish.
