South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum:

Originally opening their doors in 1981, they are tasked with collecting, preserving and interpreting South Dakota rural and agricultural life. This museum strives to ensure that future generations to come will know and understand where agriculture started and the journey it has taken throughout the years. Be prepared to learn and explore!

SDSU Agricultural tours:

The College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Science is the largest college at South Dakota State University.  Take a couple tours of the campus facilities and learn more about the work being done at the school.  There are many tours to choose from, including but not limited to: Davis Dairy Plant, Meat Lab Tour, Feed Processing and more!

Pro Tip: You will need to set up tours before you arrive in Brookings. Contact Sarah Jacobs at 605-688-4582 for more information.

Saturday

Little Shire Farm:

Located on the south side of Aurora, Little Shire Farm is a locally owned family farm. Owner Lisa and her husband John created the farm with a desire to grow their own food that stemmed from doing so throughout their childhoods. The couple now offers a variety of different produce and honey options!

Pro Tip: Make sure to check out their website for hours of operation and sweet honey treats!

Sanderson Gardens:

Pick your produce, choose from hunting in the field for the perfect option, or select from the pre-picked options. A variety of items offered throughout the growing season provide another reason to stop by and get an updated haul.

Pro tip: Bring your own container and cash to pay!

Dinner at The Pheasant:

A local must try spot is the Pheasant Restaurant & Lounge. So popular that even Gordon Ramsay himself had to stop by when filming in Minnesota! Here you can find iconic South Dakota cuisine such as lamb chislic, bison and if you are lucky, snag a piece of the state dessert, kuchen!

Sunday

Craft Chophouse and Lounge:

Craft Chophouse & Lounge is the perfect place to top off the weekend! With both light fare options and hearty pastas, there’s something to satisfy every craving. With patio seating available you have the option to enjoy your food outdoors.

Homestead Meats:

Take home some meat with you to remember us by! Years and years have gone into the making of the recipes, and you will not regret leaving with this purchase.

Pro tip: They have beef sticks for the ultimate road trip snack back home!
