South Dakota Environmental Design Competition

About This Event
Our Environmental Design Competition comes to SDSU in March 2026!
As a Design Competition, students will assume the roles and responsibilities of professional engineers and respond to an industry-equivalent Request for Proposal (RFP).
Our Enviro DC event will be themed around solving geo-engineering challenges – encouraging students to understand the complexities of environmental science and engineering, as well as design trade-offs and constraints. Ultimately, all participants will walk away with a clearer view of what’s involved in this exciting field, and options for future career pathways.

Cost To Participate
$75. Will include all facilities, equipment, and meals across the day

Age category:
High School Students 9th – 12th Grade

Event Schedule:
9am: event kick off. Introduction to Design Competitions,
9:30am: students form their aerospace companies!
10am: students receive the Request for Proposal (RFP) and start work!
12-1pm: rolling lunch break
3pm: students present in front of a panel of judges
4pm: event concludes

This is a day-long event only, so no accommodation is provided
Lunch will be provided
Both teams / school groups, and individual students, are welcome to attend
