In honor of Native American Heritage Month, the Brookings Public Library is hosting speakers from across the state and country to discuss Native history, culture, and issues. This event will be in person in the Library’s Cooper Room and streamed on Zoom.
This week’s talk will be “Haudenosaunee Women Lacrosse Players: Making Meaning through Rematriation” by Sharity Bassett.
This talk will focus on the ways in which Haudenosaunee women enact traditional identities on and off the field, while disrupting Western feminist representations of the complex issue of women playing lacrosse.
