All ages welcome at Cafe Coteau inside the Children’s Museum of South Dakota!
Enjoy an array of delicious breakfast items, pasta dishes, as well as nutritious sandwiches and salads while sitting under the prairie sky in Cafe Coteau. This cafe is open to the public and does not require admission, just a big appetite!
Each menu item is handcrafted and sourced with as many local ingredients as possible. The cafe offers cool, crisp salads with all the glorious fixings and plenty of options for lunch with noodles any way you want them and tasty sammies served hot or cold. The cafe is a lovely dining option for both kids and adults and also features gluten-free items and delicious drinks and smoothies. Cafe Coteau proudly serves SDSU Ice Cream, made right here on campus in Brookings.

#VisitBrookingsSDHistory lives on in Brookings residential districts. Brookings Historic Preservation Commission offers two walking tours: the University Residential Historic District and the Central Historic District. Brochures are available at the Visit Brookings office.
The University Residential Historic District features some of Brookings’ oldest buildings, including 33 homes once owned by early professors, doctors and business leaders. The Central Residential District showcases 34 homes built between 1891 and 1941, featuring diverse architectural styles and a portion of Brookings’ urban arboretum.
