America’s 250th Mural Painting

You are invited to a Community Painting Party as we celebrate America’s 250th Birthday.

The Brookings Regional Growth Alliance is creating a mosaic mural, made with over 950 tiles, each one hand-painted by area residents, to be displayed on the north side of the VFW at 520 Main Avenue.

All participants will receive a mural kit and instructions. If you want to learn more about the painting process head over to this link.

This event is come-and-go, no Museum admission is required. You are invited to take part in the $5 Community Meal in Café Coteau, too!

In addition, mark your calendar for the grand unveiling at VFW Parking Lot (North of 520 Main Ave) on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 7 PM.

The mural project is funded through a grant from the Brookings Public Art Commission.
