Journey Into the Past – Verna K. Boyd

Boyd introduces audiences to the First Nations people who made their homes in southeastern South Dakota – Omaha, Ponca, Ioway – and discusses their traditional way of life. She will review
farming techniques and crops, as well as discuss and exhibit artifacts, sample trade items, replicas of dog travois, tools and pottery.
Native American Heritage Month Event Series
In honor of Native American Heritage Month, the Brookings Public Library is hosting events and speakers from across the Midwest to discuss Native history, culture, and issues.
Each week will feature a new event, both in-person in the Library’s Cooper Room and on Zoom. Login information for each program will be posted on the Library’s website and Facebook page.
