Tim Peterson: Illuminated Noir | Reception and Artist Talk
Event Series:
South Dakota Art Museum
This winter, the South Dakota Art Museum proudly presents “Illuminated Noir,” a captivating showcase of two distinct bodies of work by Spearfish, South Dakota artist Tim Peterson. On view January 11 – April 6, the exhibition highlights Peterson’s versatility across media. Peterson’s velvety pastel nocturnes explore the quiet mysteries of alleys, junkyards, and interstates, capturing what he calls the “static quality of a night scene,” evoking solitude and a cinematic film noir intrigue. These evocative scenes are beautifully contrasted by his plein air watercolors, vibrant depictions of street scenes drenched with natural light.
Join us for the exhibition reception on Saturday, April 5, from 5 – 7 p.m. Museum members will enjoy light appetizers and complimentary beverages. At 6 p.m., Peterson will present an artist talk about his creative practice.
