No Crossroads: Community and the Sense of Place on the Great Plains with Dr. Tom Isern
- This event has passed.
In our part of the country, we live with a certain set of assumptions: that ours is a difficult land, disadvantaged in resources; that we are far from the center of things, whatever that is; and most pernicious of all, that our best days are behind us. These are all ideas to be challenged, for they do not serve us well. This talk, “No Crossroads,” looks at how community and a sense of place have been established, have flourished, have eroded, and persist on the prairies. The knowledge and perspectives here provided cannot solve the problems of rural life on the plains. Rather, they establish that our problems are things we can identify and address. And maybe that problem-solving is not the best approach to living the good life on the Great Plains. This event is FREE and open to the public. FREE coffee and refreshments will be available.
