Taste of Brookings on Wheels: Midwest Fresh Food Truck

Taste of Brookings on Wheels: Midwest Fresh Food Truck

by |

Midwest Fresh brings made-from-scratch food to the streets of Brookings through its locally owned food truck. Mike Siegel launched the truck in 2011 after he and his wife decided to take a chance on a mobile kitchen. It was a perfect transition to the end goal of a brick-and-mortar restaurant.

The truck serves classic comfort food with fresh ingredients. The menu comes packed full with meals, sides and what Siegel calls “10 pounds of flavor in a 5-pound box.” Fan favorites include the Harley Burger, Philly Cheesesteak and other homestyle meals.

The team stays active at community gatherings like the Brookings Kite Festival, which fills the skies over Brookings each June. The food truck often makes appearances in nearby communities, including Old Timers Day in Volga, just six miles outside of town.

Customers can find Midwest Fresh Food Truck’s location mainly through Facebook at Midwest Fresh Catering.

Focusing on quick service, big flavor and a laid-back vibe, the team enjoys seeing familiar and new faces at every stop. Looking ahead, Seigel plans to keep the truck rolling while opening a diner in the area, continuing his commitment to quality food and community connection.
