Step into Antique Mercantile, where history and memories fill every corner. Located at226 Main Ave. in Downtown Brookings, the shop is packed with pieces ranging from intricate linens and classic jewelry, to apparel, home decor and collectible memorabilia.

Since opening in 2017, Antique Mercantile has been a destination for discovering pieces from past eras and providing a sense of nostalgia through purchases. Inside, visitors will find walls lined with decorative dishware, ornate furnishings and rare items such as books from the 1600s, Native American finds and 1880s western memorabilia.

From their first step onto the floor to the shiny tin ceiling, shoppers can find items representing their childhood memories. This space welcomes visitors to form their own connections with history.

The appeal of antique shopping lies in the thrill of the hunt. Every visit has the potential to uncover something unexpected, adding to the fun of browsing. The stories behind each piece make each discovery even sweeter, like finding a small victory tucked among the shelves.

Owner Lynette Kerlinen courages her customers to “keep history alive,” welcoming both longtime enthusiasts and first-time shoppers to explore, appreciate and take home a piece of history.
