Shooting archery and firearms can be a fun and creative hobby, whether you’re a seasoned enthusiast or just considering giving it a try. The Brookings County Outdoor Adventure Center provides a welcoming environment for people of all experience levels to explore shooting.
The center is home to two different ranges: archery and firearms. It offers a variety of classes to accommodate all skill levels, from beginner to defensive shooting. The gun range is a 12-lane automatic retrieval range, which promotes the center’s number one goal of safety as there is no need to walk down-range. The archery range is a 39-lane Olympic-sized range.
For those interested in trying out different firearms, the BCOAC provides rentals to customers aged 21 or older. Individuals ages 18 to 21 are not able to rent, but are welcome to use their own firearms at the range. For younger visitors, the gun range is accessible with a guardian present and the same policy applies to the archery range for customer ages 16 and under. Additionally, the center offers the opportunity to check out a free duck hunting trailer equipped with decoys and blinds. This is a perfect chance to explore new equipment and try different styles of hunting.
The center can double as a venue for small events or meetings, with a variety of room sizes available. The BCOAC offers special deals and coupons to SDSU students, including half-price Wednesdays. Students also have the option to purchase a nine-month membership.
Whether someone is aiming for the bullseye, preparing for hunting season or simply looking for a welcoming community space, the center provides numerous opportunities for adventure and skill-building in a safe, supportive setting.
