Brookings Tourism Ambassador Program

Certified Hospitality Training

The Brookings Tourism Ambassador Program aims to provide frontline employees and volunteers with learning experiences to enhance their knowledge of the region and improve their customer service skills. This certification equips participants with the resources and tools to effectively address visitors’ questions.

The principle is simple: when employees and volunteers offer quality service to visitors, the likelihood of a positive visitor experience increases. Positive experiences encourage repeat visits and prompt visitors to share their positive experiences in Brookings with others.

Tourism Enhancement Grant

The tourism grant program is designed to support, create, and improve tourism-related facilities. The grant program runs year-round and applications are accepted on a quarterly basis. Applications may be submitted on or before the deadline for each of the following review periods: January 1April 1July 1, and October 1.

Guide to Getting Started

Visit Brookings implemented an Online Reputation Program to increase the online presence of attractions, restaurants, businesses, etc. in Brookings. Understanding now more than ever, visitors are searching online for places to eat, things to do and where to travel next.

Providing visitors with information through the Visitor Guide and VisitBrookingsSD.com is just the beginning. The ability to search and read reviews about places within the community from people who have visited provides a sense of trust in our businesses and attractions.

Great Face

Travel South Dakota understands the importance of great customer service and wants to recognize individuals who make our great places better.

The annual program offers a way to recognize employees who go above and beyond every day.

Great Place

Great service is extremely important to Travel South Dakota and they want to put a spotlight on the businesses, communities and organizations that exemplify great service around the state.

Our Brookings’ Great Places for 2024 are the Brookings Arts Council, Children’s Museum of South Dakota, Craft Chophouse & Lounge, Dacotah Bank Center, Downtown Brookings, Hampton Inn & Suites, Holiday Inn Express & Suites, McCrory Gardens at SDSU, South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum, South Dakota Art Museum, Tee’d Off Golf Simulators, The Carrot Seed, The Lanes, The Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center and Visit Brookings.
