South Dakota Art Museum
Situated on the campus of South Dakota State University, the South Dakota Art Museum features seven spacious galleries and a collections archive of more than 7,000 works of art. Among the galleries, four feature rotating art from its permanent collections including Harvey Dunn paintings, Paul Goble illustrations, and Marghab Linens. The remaining galleries exhibit the latest trends in contemporary art from regional, national and international artists. The museum also offers a one-of-a-kind museum store featuring unique pieces available for sale, ranging from handmade jewelry to colorful pottery and miles upon miles of beads from around the world. Admission to seeing the museum is always free. In addition, the South Dakota Art Museum is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, and the American Art Awards has named one of the 20 Best American Galleries and Museums every year since 2017.
The South Dakota Art Museum is also part of our Brookings Great 8 Passport program, encouraging visitors and locals to explore our one-of-a-kind attractions.
