Dakota Nature Park

Dakota Nature Park is a 135-acre outdoor escape featuring a string of ponds perfect for kayaking, fishing, or canoeing. It has miles of bike trails and nature paths. Once a city landfill, the park is now a vibrant hub for outdoor activities.

Located in the park is the Larson Nature Center offering rental gear including fishing rods, kayaks, canoes, adaptive bikes, snowshoes and more. Visitors can enjoy fishing, bird-watching, hiking, biking, skiing, and picnicking.

Rental Rates & Policies

The park and center primarily host programs affiliated with the Brookings Parks, Recreation& Forestry Department but are available for rentals, including business or personal meetings, social gatherings, weddings, reunions and more.

The Dakota Nature Park and Larson Nature Center are primarily for the use of programs and activities sponsored or affiliated with the Brookings Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department. The building is for rent when the schedule allows. Download the rental agreement for more information.
