A Creative Experience Awaits At The Brookings Arts Council

by |

The Brookings art scene is flourishing and alive thanks to the Brookings Art Council (BAC) housed in the old Carnegie Library building. Visit the place where art appreciation is celebrated through galleries, weekly classes and glimpses around the community.

The BAC supports local artists by providing opportunities to display their work professionally. These exhibitions make up an impressive gallery, perfect for visitors to admire. Guests can explore the council’s historic building and appreciate the spectacular work free of charge.

In addition to the gallery inside the BAC, visitors can explore a wide canvas of art in Downtown Brookings. Two of the many murals in Downtown Brookings were created by BAC. They embellish the town in the alley off of 5th Street.

Art enthusiasts can get the most out of their trip by scheduling a class at the BAC. Experts teach hands-on lessons in pottery, watercolor, acrylic painting, floral arrangements and more! Classes are held two to three times a week and are an excellent chance to explore new interests, gain skills and knowledge and engage with the community.

The Festival of Trees, organized by the council during the holiday season, is a special experience. Visitors can enjoy beautifully decorated trees designed by local businesses and clubs and vote for their favorite. Alongside the festive displays, local artists provide a delightful shopping experience, making it easy to find the perfect gifts for any Christmas list.

From master classes to inspiring gallery experiences and memorable photo opportunities with unique works of art, the BAC is ready and eager to welcome visitors. Gallery hours are Thursday and Friday from noon to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
