America’s 250th Community Mosaic Mural
Located on the north exterior wall of the VFW George Dokken Post 2118, the America’s 250th Community Mosaic Mural stands as a vibrant, permanent celebration of local unity and national heritage. Visible to both pedestrians and drivers traveling along 6th Street, this massive public art piece measures approximately 20 feet long and features a beautifully detailed “Americana” theme centered on a patriotic flag and eagle design. A true collaborative masterpiece, the mosaic is comprised of 950 individual tiles, each hand-painted by Brookings area residents, organizations, and volunteers during community painting parties. Spearheaded by the Brookings Regional Growth Alliance and funded by a grant from the Brookings Public Arts Commission, it is a stunning testament to the creativity, spirit, and collaborative heart of the Brookings community.
